New Design & Empty Wallets

July 1, 2023

Well if you ever saw the first version of this site, you'll notice it looks really different. If you hadn't seen it, you didn't miss much because it was pretty bare-bones. We've been thinking about putting up a proper landing page so I decided to evolve it a lil bit. landing page simple but effective

The site has a bit more structure now. More changes will come - we iterate fast, ya know?

Empty Wallets

Now we can talk progress on the actual Friendscape platform. After Mike and I hung out last night I realized how much I had neglected one of the features that got us amped up about Friendscape in the first place: the ability to financially contribute to users/creators/groups you like. It's kind of a patreon twist on a community site.

There is a real injustice in companies like Reddit relying so heavily on volunteer moderators and users that create all of their content while the corp gets to reap all the benefits. Friendscape is going to have a little internal economy - as a registered, paying user your wallet will receive a certain amount of credits each month or purchase credits whenever you'd like. Those credits can be used to boost your posts, support creators or groups you enjoy, and more.

The data models have been put in place, there are plenty of UI aspects to work out but we'll get there soon.
